Heartworm, Flea and Tick Prevention
Is Prevention Important?
We cannot express the importance of heartworm and flea prevention enough, especially living here in SW Florida. Pets get heartworms from mosquitoes, which are very prevalent down here. Once your pet has it, it is expensive and risky to treat, which is why we can’t recommend it enough. As for flea prevention, if your pet has a skin issue, one of the first questions we will ask is if they are on a flea prevention. Sometimes it can take only one flea bite to start a problem with your pet’s skin. Tick prevention is something that you and our team can discuss and see what their exposure/risks prior to making a recommendation.
- For heartworm prevention, we do require an annual exam and heartworm test to make sure your pet is negative.
- Our team is happy to discuss all heartworm, flea, and tick prevention options with you to best meet the needs of your pet. Feel free to give us a call or stop in with any questions.
